    Green City, Clean Waters

Philadelphia's plan envisions transforming the city into an oasis of rain gardens, green roofs, treescapes, and porous pavements, which advocates say is cheaper than tunnels and makes for a more liveable, prettier city with higher property values and better community health.

Transit Ties: Urban Infrastructure at Olympic Village

The construction of facilities to accomodate competition venues and the adaptation of new infrastructure are two of the major forces that drive Olympic Village development. It is big business for major cities and rural communities alike, since the prospect of thousands of touring visitors descending upon their economies promises a huge increase of commerce. Perhaps the greatest rewards the host site or city benefit from are the lasting improvements to the community and its physical coordination.

In these ways, we will observe how Olympic Villages inform and conform urbanism typologies. Ultimately, we gain awareness about large scale development and sustainable approaches to facilitate future growth.

In the final slides of this presentation, urban design interventions are represented as the expression of pedestrian and vehicular vectors, tied together in a new transit hub that centralizes the "resort village" in anticipation of seasonal and permanent density.
